Activities
Balgriha
“Balgriha,” is a wholehearted initiative by Shri Gajanan Sevabhavi Sanstha. It is a residential home for 50 mentally handicapped children in Shidod village, Beed district, supported by the Women & Child Development Department, Government of Maharashtra. The home provides free education, accommodation, and care, easing the burden on parents who struggle with their children’s needs. Dedicated to helping these children live a more normal life, Balgriha ensures their proper upbringing in a nurturing environment, fostering growth and inclusion for those with special needs.
Educational Support
Education is a powerful tool to combat poverty and illiteracy and build a prosperous society. And we are dedicated to educational welfare focusing on marginalized areas of Beed, where many families struggle with educational expenses. We try to provide crucial support to them like financial aid and distributing stationery materials to children from underserved backgrounds, ensuring they have access to essential educational resources. Through addressing these needs, we aim to enhance educational opportunities and support the development of a brighter future.
Women Empowerment
In line with our commitment to gender equality, we strive to empower women in Beed district, focusing on those from vulnerable backgrounds in rural, semi-urban, and urban areas. Many women face violence, exploitation, and lack of access to education, health, and opportunities. We organize awareness programs on personal hygiene, maternal care, child care, and women’s rights, including protection against domestic violence, dowry demands, and female foeticide. With a sex ratio of 1000 boys to 776 girls in Shirur tehsil, we also provide skills to make women self-reliant and financially independent.
Blood Donation Camps
As part of our health welfare activities, we organize blood donation camps to ensure a stable blood supply for patients in emergencies. It is horrifying to learn that around 12,000 people die annually due to blood unavailability. To address this, we conduct Blood donation camps and collect the blood which it diverts to the Beed Civil Hospital-run “Blood Bank”. We are proud to state that Blood donated from “Blood Donation camp held by our NGO has saved many lives in Beed district.
Environment Preservation
We are also committed to environmental preservation. We recognise that the severe degradation caused by human activity over the years has dreadful results like global warming and pollution which we must address together. To combat these challenges, we collaborate with local communities, organizing tree plantation drives and distributing saplings to promote greenery and restore balance to the environment. Through these efforts, we aim to raise awareness and encourage collective action for a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
Sports Promotion
We emphasize sports as a path to career building and personal growth, recognizing its importance in leading a healthy life and fostering development. At Shri Gajanan Sevabhavi Sanstha, we support individuals passionate about sports and offer opportunities for skill enhancement and encouraging sportsmanship. Our primary goal is to promote the value of sports through organizing matches and tournaments, providing resources for development, and inspiring a balanced, active lifestyle for a well-rounded future.
Upliftment of Sugarcane Cutter
We are deeply concerned about the plight of sugarcane cutters who migrate to Western Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh during the sugarcane cutting season. These laborers, who earn meagre wages, often struggle to meet their basic needs such as accommodation, nutritious food, drinking water, and medical care. Their children remain uneducated and live under precarious conditions, subject to the demands of contractors who take a portion of their earnings. Our goal is to transform their lives by providing access to education, healthcare, and essential resources, reducing the need for migration for survival.
